Recurring Events

There are a lot of events here that occur several times a year – like the bluegrass concerts at Spencer Penn on the first Friday of every month. Most of these events have been disrupted by the pandemic. Some have returned. Some may be lost forever. I honestly don’t know.

First Friday Live Bluegrass at Spencer Penn (Spencer)

The Spencer Penn Center hosts a live bluegrass concert on the first Friday of every month.  The cost of admission is low ($5) and the live bluegrass is fantastic. This has been a  big draw and people come from all over to hear the music and maybe do a little flatfooting.  Check the Spencer Penn Facebook page for more info as things are a little different during the pandemic precautions but they did restart in September of 2020. 2020

First Saturday Outings with DRBA (all over)

The Dan River Basin Association hosts outings – hiking and paddling – on the first Saturday of each month.

Monthly Hikes with Homestead Hikers (all over)

The Homestead Hikers is connected to the Reynolds Homestead and they take in hikes all over the area. Hikers are all different levels of skill so the hikes can be short or long, easy or hard. Check our their Facebook page if you are interested in joining.

Fieldale Village Street Dance (Fieldale)

Keep an eye out for the return of the street festivals that help to support Fieldale Rec Center. Take your lawn chairs.  This is a fun and relaxing way to spend an evening.    2016
