This is a personal blog about life in the Martinsville-Henry County area of southern Virginia. It’s a great place to live and it doesn’t get enough press so we decided to remedy that by giving people a glimpse into what we see every day, plus some of the neat things that are close to us that help make it even more fun.

Beth & Steve

Beth and her husband moved from McKinney, Texas, to the Horsepasture area of Henry County in 2014. The intention was to flip a house here and then move to Roanoke. In the process, they fell in love with Henry County and decided to stay, moving Beth’s seventy year old mother out from Maypearl, Texas, in 2016. Beth’s family makes frequent trips up to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Floyd, Roanoke, and Smith Mountain Lake, all within an hour of Henry County. You’ll see lots of walking trails and festivals in her posts.

Peggy & Herb

Peggy and Herb moved to Henry County from Richmond in 2014.  Since then, they have converted their Axton area home into a thriving hop farm, Mountain Valley Hops,  and will shortly open one of the first craft beer breweries in Henry County.   When they can get away from the demands of the hop fields and working on the brewery, they enjoy nights on the town in Martinsville at Mtn’ Jax, lots of live music, and make frequent trips into Danville to the Two Witches Brewery.  Look for great posts from them about the local craft beer scene as well as some of the fun to be had here and around.
